Famous cheese recipe in indian cuisine known as kadai paneer

The term "Kadai" refers to the wok-like, deep, and thick-bottomed pan traditionally used in Indian cooking. The dish is known for its rich and robust flavors, making it a favorite among both vegetarians and non-vegetarians.

The history of Kadai Paneer is not precisely documented, but it likely originated in the Indian state of Punjab. Paneer, a fresh cheese common in Indian cuisine, is a key ingredient in this dish. The use of the kadai, or wok, adds a distinctive flavor and texture to the preparation.

Over time, Kadai Paneer has become a popular restaurant and home-cooked dish across India and beyond. Its appeal lies in the combination of spices, the richness of paneer, and the delightful mix of vegetables. The dish has evolved with variations in ingredients and preparation methods, adapting to regional tastes.

While the exact origins might not be pinpointed, Kadai Paneer's journey from a traditional Punjabi dish to a widely enjoyed part of Indian cuisine reflects the diversity and richness of the country's culinary heritage.

200g paneer (cottage cheese), cubed

2 tbsp oil

1 large onion, finely sliced

1 capsicum, thinly sliced

2 tomatoes, finely chopped

1 tsp coriander powder

1/2 tsp turmeric powder

Instructions:

Heat oil in a kadai or wok, add cumin seeds, and let them splutter.

Add finely sliced onions and sauté until golden brown.

Add ginger-garlic paste, sauté for a minute until the raw smell disappears.

Add chopped tomatoes, cook until they turn soft and oil starts separating.

Add coriander powder, turmeric powder, red chili powder, and salt. Mix well.

Add sliced capsicum, cook for a few minutes until it becomes slightly tender.

Add paneer cubes and mix gently to coat them with the masala.
